The world is witnessing a massacre in Gaza that has never been seen before. The “movement of missile attacks on Israel” launched by Hamas has brought a complete disaster to the region. The attack launched by Israel in the name of self-defense has turned into a massacre. The Hamas operation, which can be described as “stepping on the tail of the sleeping snake”, has benefited Israel, which has been on the alert.
This incident was also a lifeline for Netanyahu, whose political career was on the rocks, and he took action to consolidate his own power. For a month, Netanyahu has been carrying out a complete genocide against Gaza’s civil rights, without discriminating between children, women, the elderly, and the young.
In this context, in an interview broadcast on CNNTURK television channel yesterday, a woman named Um Masab Dalul, who was one of the thousands of women who lost her family members and whose homes were destroyed in Gaza, and who lost her husband and a son in Israeli attacks, asked the Israeli authorities, “What did these children do to you? Did they fight and carry weapons and destroy their houses on their heads? “ and calls on the world to stop Israeli brutality.
The leaders of the United States and most of the European countries, who supported the Israeli attacks, seem to have forgotten their long-standing views of peace, human rights, and so on.
The Western world’s unconditional support for Israel can be expressed in their sympathy for Jews and Islamophobia. However, it is not possible to understand and explain the attitudes of Arab countries other than Qatar, which remain silent in the face of Israel’s attacks. Arab leaders who abandon Palestinians of their own race and believe in the same religion will also take their deserved place in history.
The strongest reaction to Israeli attacks comes from Turkey and other Islamic countries. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who has been expressing the oppression of the Palestinian people on all political platforms in the world for a long time, states that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is the main responsible for the murder movement that has been going on in Gaza for a month. President Erdoğan has announced that Turkey is preparing to declare Netanyahu and Israel war criminals.
Although Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu, who announced that the option of using nuclear weapons in Gaza was on the table, was banned by Netanyahu from attending cabinet meetings the very next day, it is conceivable that the issue may have been raised during the meetings in which this minister was present.
In the meantime, while the leaders of Western countries continue to remain silent against Israel’s attacks on Gaza, the reactions of the people of these countries are rising, although it is a slim possibility, causing hopes for peace in the future to flourish.
In this context, some positive developments can be listed as follows:
Hundreds of professors at Irish universities have sent a joint letter calling on their government to cut ties with Israeli-based organizations because of Israel’s genocide against the people of Gaza.
Pope Francis has reiterated his call for a ceasefire in Gaza. “In the name of God, I ask you to immediately conclude a ceasefire agreement and release the hostages.”
US Senate member Bernie Sanders said that Israel’s indiscriminate killings of innocent victims in the Gaza Strip is unacceptable. He said it was “one of the most horrific moments in modern history,” but he wrote to X: “Israel has the right to defend itself. I don’t think anyone is against it. But what they are doing indiscriminately right now, bombing refugee camps, bombing ambulances, and killing thousands of innocent men, women, and children in violation of international law, is absolutely unacceptable. This needs to be stopped.”
Angelina Jolie shared the following views on her Instagram account: “As the world watches and with the active support of many governments, millions of Palestinian civilians – children, women, families – are collectively punished and dehumanized while being deprived of food, medicine, and humanitarian aid in violation of international law.”
As a result, it can be said that the Israeli attacks from land, air, and sea, which have become a genocidal act in which more than ten thousand civilians were massacred and hundreds of thousands of people were left homeless, are candidates to go down in history as the “biggest massacre” of the 2000s, and Netanyahu is a candidate to be blamed as the primary responsible for this massacre.”
Of course, I think that the Palestinians, who have experienced this atrocity with all its horrors, will also take stock of the situation and give more weight to political science education, as the old saying goes, “A perfect leader is the one who is perfect in political science” in the training of the younger generation that will govern them in the future.
